Celebrating the Shoe - Day 1

I read a disturbing fact last week while perusing Real Simple Magazine.  It wasn't about war, famine or the skyrocketing autism rate in America.  It was about shoes. Per their findings women own 17 pairs of shoes and buy 3 new pairs per year.  So why is this disturbing?  Well, I considered myself a real woman and I own WAY more pairs (61, but who's counting?) of shoes as the sampled population. If we count running shoes, I've already bought three new pairs this year.  So, while I consider reigning in my shoe habit, I thought it might be fun to celebrate my beloved collection. For the month of April I'll be featuring a pair (and of course a corresponding outfit) a day.  If you want to join in I've put in a linky tool at the bottom.  No matter how many pairs you own, let's celebrate our favorites flats, heels, wedges, platforms, sneaks, boots and sandals this fine spring month!

Pair 1:
I thought I'd go big and bold for my first pair of the month.  Besides being electric blue these happen to be my most special pair.  Prior to our wedding I wanted to treat myself to a pair of Manolos.  I had all but given up hope on finding the perfect pair when these appeared on the Neiman Marcus sale rack for a song.  I scooped them up and we've been happy together since September 2009. Oh, my husband and I have been happy together too. :)  I wore this to dinner in DC on Saturday night, the neon tank and shoes really make the outfit pop, don't you think?

Shirt/Tank - TJ Maxx, Pants - Ann Taylor Loft, Shoes - Manolo Blahnik, Earrings/Necklace - Cape Cod

I must not be the "average" woman either. I have only 10 pairs of shoes--and I only wear 3 pairs regularly. Well, I did get rid of a bunch when I cleaned out my wardrobe last month. I love Real Simple magazine too.

You look so pretty in blue! Nice outfit.

Wow! You own a lot of shoes!! This year I've already purchased three new pairs of shoes; however, those are the first three pairs of shoes that I've purchased in over 2.5 years!! (Not counting running shoes) I'm just not a shopper and like to stick with what I have. :)

I have a pair of electric blue Charles David cork heels that I bought last year at TJ Maxx... and haven't worn yet! (Tragedy, I know.)

I read that in Real Simple as well and made EVERY EFFORT to hide it from my husband (he likes to look at the recipes). If it makes you feel better, not including tennis shoes, flip-flops or rainboots - I currently have 134 pairs of shoes in rotation. Boy oh boy do I need to purge!
