Wednesday's Wardrobe: I Sense a Pattern

In the P.B. era aka Pre-Blogging I was unaware of the holes in my wardrobe. While I love patterned pillows, towels and table runners, patterned clothing has always intimidated me.  Sure, I own several patterned dresses but separates are few and far between. And when pattern-mixing got trendy I shuddered, gasped and cringed a little...and slowly I got intrigued.  I am slowly resolving my pattern issues with a wonderful therapist known as Pinterest.  Here is what we've been working on together.

This shirt was featured in my packing post for Sage. When I was in NYC a few weekends ago I popped into Uniqlo hoping it would still be there, and it was. Booya! I stepped out of my mix-adverse box and paired this striped top with a polka dot skirt.  Sorry for looking so asleep in these, it was early.
Shirt - Uniqlo, Tank - UnderArmour, Skirt/Belt - Original Penguin, Shoes - Sofft, Pearls/Earrings - Gifts, Bracelet - Eden Hand Arts

I got this top a few weeks ago and love its swirly colors, tie front and subtle hi-lo hemline. I paired it with a faux wrap skirt, aqua tank and accessories and my favorite yellow sandals for work last week.
Top - Marshall's, Tank - Old Navy, Skirt - Ann Taylor Loft, Shoes -Nine West, Necklace/Earrings - Gifts, Bracelet - St. Lucia

I think I'm making progress, I've admitted my fashion fear and attempting to work through it. Baby steps folks!

Is there a trend, item of clothing or pattern that you are fearful of? I'd love to know!

I love these patterns together in your first set of photos. It works so well. I agree with you though; I find it hard with patterned items unless it is a dress (or a floral skirt which I wear with a plain top). I love the top in your second photos too. The pattern is so cool. What am I fearful of, fashion wise? Probably the colour orange. I just don't know how to make it work.

I tend to stay away from patterns too, not on purpose but it always seems that I'm drawn to solids- unless of course it's a stripe. I love me some stripes :) I love the top in the second set of photos!

I hear you on that, Cara! I am still super intimidated by patterns. I love polka dots and stripes, sure, but anything else? ehhhh I'm still wary! ;)

LOVE the first outfit!

Acceptance is the first step to recovery! :) Ha! I love that peplum top! It would be so cute paired with a pair of skinny jeans and heels too.

I've always been a little scared of patterns myself but they definitely add a certain something to a look!

Great mixing, lady! I never mixed my wardrobe up until I started blogging. It's so fun now and it's almost like anything goes.

I love it that you wrote "booya". :)

And I still refer to the outfit boards you made for me. Now that I've quit my job, I won't be traveling as much, but it's always helpful to have go-to vacation outfits.
