Jane by Design Style Challenge: Take 1

Sorry for the technical difficulties, the video works this time, I think.

On January 3rd ABC Family is premiering a new show called Jane By Design, about the fictional design house Donovan Decker. I am competing in a challenge to be a fictitious blogger for the design house and have a box trunkload of goodies to show my creative skills with.

The first challenge was to take a $50 gift card and go shopping. Mind you, going shopping with someone else's money is not a challenge, its a dream come true. With the upcoming start of a new year, I decided to create a fun, easy outfit to ring 2012 in with. So, I jetted over to H&M and Forever 21 after work to scour the racks for clothes that would pack a unique, party punch at an inexpensive price. I found a beautiful blush colored beaded dress that is a perfect way to celebrate the evening and the return of 1920's fashion inspiration. For me, this look is festive without being loud and in-your-face, black or sequinned all over. I created a short video describing my head-to-toe look and how I would style it further. You can watch me in the clip below, or over on Facebook. If you are up for the challenge, yourself you can post your own past or recent shopping haul here for all Jane By Design fans to see! Don't forget to mention i-dabble in your haul video!

So what do you think, would you wear this for New Year's Eve, or are you going bolder and bigger? Are you foregoing the parites to stay home and cuddle with the ones you love?

Aw, I love the look you put together! I am going to a 1920's themed party for New Years this year so I think I'm going to wear a flapper fringe dress if I can find one, but I would have loved to wear this any other year :)

For anyone who's interested, the dress ($20) and earrings ($4.50) were from H&M and the shawl ($12.80), fascinator and bracelet ($6.80 each) were from Forever 21. Sorry for not mentioning them in the video!

Oh goodness, I went to H&M tonight looking for that dress and I couldn't find it. I was a bit rushed though cause the store was closing (as in they were turning off the lights and kicking us out). I'll have to go back and look again now that I know for sure that's where you got it. And $20 is such a great deal for that beautiful dress.

Very cool!

This year for NYE my husband and I are going camping! It's been warm so far this winter (60s) and we want to make use of the nice weather before the cold really comes.

I love this dress! It's just perfect for a New Years Party or any party and the accessories are just right- not too flashy. You have a real winner here and I hope they pick you for the new show on TV. Good Luck!!
