Wednesday's Wardrobe: Is It Really January?

Now I'm not complaining about the super mild winter we're having here, but I have some beautiful cashmere sweaters and wool skirts that are feeling seriously neglected this season.  The past week has been incredibly warm which had made getting dressed pleasant albeit a little difficult. Everyone of the looks below features a tee or tank more often saved for warmer months but since January has become one of those months, I'm rolling with the (warm) punches.

I picked up this burnt out velvet jacket before Christmas as something special to wear for holiday functions.  That special occasion became training for work, do I know how to party or what? I paired it with grey jeans, a tank top, booties and some fun accessories including my Nana's watch necklace from the 40s. Please excuse my end of work week hair situation and dancing...
Jacket/Bracelets - Forever 21, Tank - Filene's Basement, Jeans - Old Navy, Booties - Steve Madden,  Necklaces - Gifts, Headband - Nordstrom, Earrings - H&M

Coral is one of my favorite colors but I generally reserve it for months when I have a tan. The other morning it was just begging to be paired with this military-esque skirt, funky necklace and summer shoes.

Shirt - Target, Skirt - Marshalls, Necklace - Gift, Shoes - L.A.M.B, Bracelets - Forever 21

Again, a thin strappy tank in the middle of January.  For awhile, I have loved mustard and navy together on just about everyone and finally I put them on myself. Please excuse my terrible hair in these pictures, my hair dried in a bun that morning and I took it down without looking in a mirror first. Womp, womp.

Cardigan - Marmalade in San Francisco, Tank/Shoes - Old Navy, Skirt - Ann Taylor Loft, Tights - Hue,  Ring -Star of the East , Necklace - Gift via Nordstrom

These tights may be my new favorite thing.  Our local Bloomingdales is closing :( and everything is on super discount.  I've had my eye on these Kate Spade polka dot tights and at last they were on sale. Hip, hip hooray!  I thought it would be fun to combine dots and stripes so I pulled on this tissue thin 3/4th sleeve shirt and a purple corduroy skirt.
Shirt/Skirt - Old Navy, Tights - Kate Spade, Shoes - Bandolino, Necklace - H&M, Bracelet - Made by my SIL

So have you been having an unseasonable upswing in temperatures? If so, how have you been fashionably coping with the winter heat wave?

I love your LAMB shoes and I also enjoy pairing a dressy item with work clothes. I walk a mile to work so I'm having the hardest time deciding what coat to wear, if I need leg warmers, which gloves, should I wear a scarf, hat or hood?????? Each day is a completely different combination.

I hear your cries Cara! We barely had a winter here in new orleans. I love your Kate Spade tights. They are adorable. Wish we had a Bloomingdales here. I bet it was a great sale. Love your purple skirt, coral outfit and that black jacket. So cute! You dress so well. :)

So many things I love here I don't know where to start! Ok, how about with how fantastic the color of that coral top looks on you? And then the fun yellow in the third outfit. As those awesome shoes. And those adorable tights n the fourth outfit. That covers maybe 1/10th of that I wanted to say :)

So much outfit goodness squeezed into one little post! Hmm, I love the burnout velvet jacket - would love to see you glam it up for a night-out look! Also, the coral necklace with the coral top is such a fun way to wear brights. Those L.A.M.B. shoes and polka dot tights are gorgeous as well. :)

I feel like I've been cheating on my winter wear, too. Though I'm really a wuss when it comes to the cold, so I probably am wearing as much as I would if it were actually winter :)

Love that purple ensemble, lady! The skirt is gorgeous.

It's not that warm in Chicago but on the flip side it could be waaaaay colder! I am so sad that your bloomingdales is closing, I love that store. The burnt velvet jacket is gorgeous and you look fantastic in coral.

Cute outfits! I absolutely love the headband in the first few shots!

I live in Florida so it's always warm, which is nice, but kind of a bit annoying... I miss seasons!

I'm loving this seasonable weather! I especially like your deep purple skirt (I'm wearing that color today) and the mustard cardi! Still looking for one of those myself!

I'm wearing a lot of non-winter clothes now too--but I'm OK with that! :)

You have the most adorable shoes, especially the gray ones in the last pictures. Don't worry about your hair. You look fine. I'm growing my hair out and it looks wonky no matter what I do.

Yes! The winter here on the east coast is also a tad too warm for the winter months. My trench coat is lacking a bit of attention but can't complain. I hate the cold anyway. Ironic though. I love winter fashion but not fond of the cold.

Love all of the outfits you posted above.

I am a new follower.

Coral is such a pretty color on you! Love it with khaki. My fave look of the trio. You wear brights well, Cara. Have a most lovely weekend.
