Wednesday's Wardrobe: Trendy

Do you follow fashion trends or strut to the beat of your inner fashionista?  I tend to stay away from overly trendy pieces or things that I have experienced previously in my short time here on Earth (denim jackets and floral jeans, I'm looking at you!) Even so, some Spring trends had me itching to buy a few new additions for my wardrobe.  Here's how I have styled some of the season's latest and greatest trends over the past week.

Pastels are huge for Spring and mixing them together even more so. I paired my pastel green gingham shirt with a pale pink sweater for a cool day last week.  This denim skirt has been a favorite of mine for a few years now, it's just such an easy, versatile piece.
Shirt - Target, Sweater/Necklace - Ann Taylor Loft, Skirt - Talbot's,   Shoes - Via Spiga via Ruelala, Earrings - Borrowed from Marisol

Wedges, especially fabric wedges are also a major trend this season.  Geometric and tribal prints are also having a moment.  I spotted these wedges over the weekend and knew they had to be mine.  If you've been around awhile this dress/sweater combination may look familiar since I wore almost the exact same outfit last fall but I had to revisit it with my new wedges.
Sweater - Gap, Dress - Gap, Necklace - Key West, FL, Shoes - Rocket Dog via TJ Maxx, Earrings - Forever 21

I've always loved peplum; there is something so inherently feminine and whimsical about it.  In the past I've stuck with peplum tops but when I spotted this mint green (also major right now) peplum skirt on ASOS a few weeks back I ordered it immediately.  I love the girly look of this entire ensemble.  See those hot pink earrings? I made them last night, and am working on another DIY project to show you.  I'm hoping to share it with you tomorrow.
Tee/Tights - Target, Skirt - ASOS, Belt - borrowed from another dress, Shoes - Cole Haan, Necklace - Charming Charlie's, Earrings - DIY, Bracelets - Target/Ann Taylor Loft

This isn't on trend with spring but as I am always talking about how I hate sloppy travelers I wanted to show you what I wore to fly home to Boston last Thursday.  Comfy skinny jeans, and my favorite lace top and blazer.  Easy fabrics, easy to slip on and off shoes, minimal jewelry and easy to move in clothes.
Shirt- Ann Taylor Loft, Blazer - San Francisco, Jeans - J Brand, Shoes - Me Too via Nordstrom,  Headband - Gift via Nordstrom, Earrings - Gift, Bracelets - Forever 21

So have you embraced any of Spring's hottest trends?  I would love to know what's hot in your closet right now!

Those wedges are to die for! I love orange, and I've been wearing it a lot. I guess that's my favorite spring trend.

But as much as I love the spring weather/flowers/attitude, spring pastels don't inspire me. I'll take the bold jewel colors of fall clothes any day.

I love reading your blog cara....you always just look so cute! I miss fashion....my big buys for the weekend were some black maternity capris and an olive maternity tanktop from goodwill...this spring my style is anything that actually manages to cover this big baby bump. Hehe. :)

hey cara
those sandals you asked about were from a couple of years ago from Nordstrom. There were from their boutique line.
I heart those shoes and am hoping they make it one last summer!

I'm so glad to "know" someone with those me too flats! they are adorable. Are they comfortable? I'd love to hear your opinion.

I like all the looks, pastels are lovely on you however pastels don't normally look too good on me especially when the color is too near my face. I would prefer to wear a pastel bottom. I don't follow trends either. My favorite looks are the layered one in the first picture and the black with green outfit. You have got fabulous style!

I don't really like to follow trends, I'd rather stick with pieces and styles that I like. Sometimes they fit into the trendy ones, sometimes - not. :)

P.S. I am hosting a FreePeople giveaway at the moment and would like to invite you to take part, if you like the prize. :)
